I visited Istanbul in late June, 2009. It’s a historical and cosmopolitan city with fantastic cafes, restaurants, and nightlife, as well as incredible Churches and Mosques. The biggest surprise for me was how modern the country is, and how well the ancient is preserved and integrated into contemporary life.
